Prices from the shops we compare. Nobody pays for a place. How we rank
We turn weight into length: metres = grams divided by the density of the material, divided by the cross-section of the strand. One kilo of 1.75 mm PLA is about 335 metres.
It stays an estimate. Density differs per brand by a few percent. For PLA the stated values range from about 1.17 to 1.31 g/cm³. We use a middle value per material. Enter the net weight of the filament, so without the empty spool. That often weighs 150 to 300 grams.
We leave out carbon fibre and glass fibre filament, because the density varies too much there. The spools you see are ranked by the lowest price per kilo at the shops we compare.
